Editorial Standards
How we research, fact-check, and publish content on Ghost.
Our Commitment
Ghost publishes market analysis, buying guides, and educational content about ammunition pricing. Every piece of content we publish is held to the same standard: it must be accurate, useful, and honest. We do not publish content to fill pages or chase search rankings. If we cannot add genuine value to a topic, we do not cover it.
Data Sources
Pricing data comes directly from retailer websites. Our scraping infrastructure collects live product listings, prices, and stock status from 213+ US ammunition retailers every 2-4 hours. All prices are normalized to cost-per-round (CPR) for fair comparison.
Market analysis in our blog posts draws on this proprietary pricing dataset alongside publicly available sources. When we cite external data, we link to the original source. Common sources include the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index, U.S. Census Bureau Annual Survey of Manufactures, and Department of Defense procurement records.
Glossary definitions and technical terminology are reviewed against industry standards including SAAMI specifications and established firearms reference materials.
Content Review Process
All content published on Ghost goes through a review process before publication:
- Research. Data is gathered from primary sources. Claims are verified against at least two independent references where possible.
- Drafting. Content is written with an emphasis on specific, verifiable facts over generalities. Every numerical claim must be traceable to a data source.
- Review. Content is reviewed for factual accuracy, clarity, and completeness before publication.
- Dating. Every published article includes a publication date. Reference pages (FAQ, glossary, docs) display a "last reviewed" date that is updated when the content is re-verified.
Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously. If we discover an error in published content, or if a reader reports one, we correct it promptly with the following approach:
- Minor corrections (typos, formatting, broken links) are fixed immediately without annotation.
- Factual corrections (incorrect data points, misleading claims, outdated information) are corrected and the article's "last modified" date is updated to reflect the change.
- Significant corrections (errors that materially affect the article's conclusions) are corrected with an inline note explaining what was changed and why.
To report an error, contact us at hi@ghostsearch.dev or through our contact page.
Independence from Advertising
Ghost's editorial content is independent from our advertising and affiliate relationships. Advertising does not influence organic search rankings, price comparisons, BUY/HOLD/WAIT signals, or the conclusions of our market analysis. All sponsored or promoted content is clearly labeled as such.
Our editorial team and our business team operate independently. A retailer paying for advertising placement does not receive favorable coverage in our blog content, and unfavorable pricing data about an advertising partner is never suppressed or altered.
Author Qualifications
